The polycystic ovary syndrome is caused by an androgen imbalance. Ovarian cysts, irregular menstrual cycles, and facial and body hair are common symptoms. Women with PCOS produce extremely high levels of male hormones. This hormone imbalance causes their bodies to skip menstruation and makes it more difficult for them to conceive.
