Migraines and ADHD are something I hear about a lot in my ADHD female community. I also relate to this from a personal perspective with one of my ADHD daughters suffering from migraines, as well as quite a few friends. Migraines can be a lifelong debilitating condition alongside the many other symptoms that come with them. The word 'hope' to so many of us can feel ambiguous and distant and yet in this conversation, my guest Gail Muller, a Cornish adventurer, author, speaker, and coach, breaks down the power of hope through a late in life ADHD diagnosis. This is a riveting conversation where we learn that we can always choose hope from the depths of life's challenges. Gail has spent twenty years in education: teaching, leading, and consulting globally, helping raise aspirations and encouraging life-long learning for all. She passionately advocates for the belief that our broken bits can also be superpowers. Recently diagnosed with ADHD, she also struggled for fifteen years with debilitating chronic pain. In 2019, after considerable physical rehabilitation, she walked the Appalachian Trail in the USA, later writing a bestselling book about the experience called Unlost. Gail advocates for living a life that’s courageous and true to oneself. She runs popular online courses and residential retreats in Cornwall and gives talks and workshops worldwide, encouraging people to dig into their creativity, build resilience, and grow in confidence. On this episode of the ADHD Women's Wellbeing Podcast, Kate and Gail talk about:Gail's chronic pain journeyHope and acceptance can exist togetherHow to use hope in life and how Gail teaches it to her studentsADHD and the connection between chronic pain, hypermobility, inflammationUnexplained answers, pain and neurodivergence Hope as an energyBecoming empowered with more answers to thrive with ADHDHow to stop fighting against ourselves Hopeful attitude switchGail's ADHD diagnosis validation and understanding Gail's post-diagnosis crash Generational healing and processing after a diagnosis Have a look at some of Kate's workshops and free resources here.Kate Moryoussef is a women’s ADHD Lifestyle & Wellbeing coach and EFT practitioner helping overwhelmed and unfulfilled newly-diagnosed ADHD women find more calm, balance, hope, health, compassion, creativity and clarity. Do you feel your nervous system is constantly heightened and dysregulated? Perhaps the feeling of hypervigilance, anxiety, and not being able to settle? This is a prevalent theme I hear from many of us with ADHD - myself included. If so, Kate's new four-part workshop series, Regulating Your ADHD Nervous System, is available here.In this week’s shorter ADHD Women's Wellbeing Wisdom episode, I chat with Lisa Ryan, an experienced trauma-informed physiotherapist and somatic therapy practitioner. Lisa supports individuals (many with ADHD) who experience persistent (chronic) pain and health issues such as fibromyalgia, long COVID, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), unexplained physical symptoms, burnout, tension headaches/migraines, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and many more. Lisa’s mission is simple - to help people find freedom from pain and troublesome symptoms, live well and thrive.During today's podcast episode, Lisa and I talk about:ADHD masking and its impact on the nervous systemCreating more safety in our bodyHow to move trauma through your bodyHow our busy society and little downtime contribute to a heightened nervous systemWhy chronic pain, CFS and fibromyalgia is connected to high levels of stress and trauma in our nervous systemIncorporating fun movement, nature, grounding and joy to settle and nurture the nervous systemSelf-holding, self-soothing and using different parts of our body to calm and regulateThe basic needs of the nervous system and how to meet themADHD and HypervigilanceTo connect with Lisa, head to her website, www.lisaryanphysiotherapy.com or connect on Instagram.Kate's new four-part workshop series, Regulating Your ADHD Nervous System, is available here.Welcome to a new episode of ADHD Women's Wellbeing Wisdom!
