This is the concluding part of my conversation with Dr. 'Tope Oriola, a criminologist and associate professor at the University of Alberta. We discuss how large systems such as government bodies can address violence against women and girls, outlining practical strategies and policy solutions.  Dr. Oriola is a renowned researcher and teacher and is well known for his work on policing and use of force by police, transnational crimes, terrorism studies, political violence, social movement and resource conflict, and has many publications in leading scholarly journals. He contributes regularly to media interviews and expert opinions, and is the recipient of a number of awards including the Governor General of Canada Academic Gold Medal. He is the president of the Canadian Association of African Studies (CAAS) and the joint Editor-in-Chief of African Security journal.
