In the early hours of New Years Day 2006, 16-year-old Brittany Bearspaw, of the Stoney-Nakoda Nation, was found lying dead on the Trans-Canada highway a mere ten minutes from her family home in Morley, near Calgary, Alberta. Brittany had been struck by a vehicle at least three times, though the driver who initially struck her has never come forward. The RCMP ruled Brittany's death as a suicide, however, her mother, Geraldine Bearspaw, who speaks to us in this episode, is determined to prove her daughter did not take her own life, and that she was victim to foul play.
