In this episode, Dr Chandrika discusses with host Sowjanya one of the most important issues women commonly face - PCOS. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a common hormonal disorder affecting people with ovaries, often during their reproductive years. It's characterized by hormonal imbalances that lead to various symptoms, including irregular periods, excess facial and body hair, acne, and weight gain. People with PCOS may experience difficulties with fertility due to irregular ovulation. The exact cause is unknown, but genetics and insulin resistance are believed to play a role. Management involves lifestyle changes, such as a healthy diet and exercise, along with medical interventions like birth control pills and insulin-sensitizing medications. Early diagnosis and proper management are crucial for alleviating symptoms and preventing long-term complications. Listen in. Subscribe to this podcast and also follow us here.
