Inspired by TV’s Kolchak: The Night Stalker, he began a hobby that has lasted over 40 years. He participates and leads ghost hunts and tours all over the Midwest, and now in his new home near Mt. Airy, North Carolina. Dan was with the first ghost hunters to visit Morse Mill, Missouri, the Tri-County Truck Stop in Gray Summit, Mo., The Fox Theater in St. Louis, and the first in such places as the Gasconade County Courthouse in Hermann, Mo., the Hermann Police Station, the McLean Mansion in Washington, Mo, and others. In 2021, he was called to Holton, Ks. to help with their participation in the World’s Largest Ghost Hunt at the Hotel Josephine. Dan Terry has authored seven books on ghosts, including Hermann Shadows, Missouri Shadows, and Too Ornery to Die. He has teamed up with the Missouri Paranormal Research Society, Paranormal Task Force, St. Louis Paranormal Research Society, Gateway Paranormal Team, Kansas Paranormal Research Society, Road Trip Paranormal, and others. Currently, he is helping with ghost tours of Mt. Airy, working with the local museum, and hosts Most Haunted, a weekly podcast on the new digital paranormal radio station, KUNX.
