Dalila Jusic-LaBerge is a licensed marriage and family therapist practicing in California. Dalila graduated from UCLA, and got her masters degree in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University. She is the owner of Be Here & Now Counseling and Relationship Academy and has been practicing since 2006, working with individuals, couples, and families. Dalila currently offers online therapy services in the state of California. She grew up in former Yugoslavia, a socialist country where women were considered to be equal to men, Dalila's seen that patriarchic values were still prominent. Women have the same legal rights as men do, but there are so many messages that both men and women get about how they should be in this world. Women's behaviors and worldviews are especially scrutinized.  Since tribal societies, women were considered a commodity. Although we don't express this openly, this kind of mentality is still deep down in people's psyche. Moreover, parents raise women to be "nice girls," which makes it very hard for women to focus on their own wellbeing. This awareness led Dalila to be passionate about women's mental health.  For Full Show Notes: www.NicoleBurgessCoaching.com In this episode: More college-educated women than men in the dating scene How accomplished professional women feel confident in professional life, yet unsure in dating life Becoming aware and challenging old beliefs or mindsets The fears of showing “true self” in dating Raised as “nice girls” (Check out episode 2 in breaking free from good girl facade) Learned operant behaviors as young girls and unlearning them to discover your true emotions and needs How mindfulness can decrease anxiety and bring more self-awareness Dalila uses psycho-sensory sensitive techniques in her work Example of improving your belief of being lovable Changing mindset from competing (or from a disempowered place) to how does person make me feel Dalila shares a technique she uses with high achieving women in staying connected to themselves and empowered while beginning to date Importance of allowing moments to unfold vs placing attachment onto the person or event Staying curious about a belief of “if other person doesn’t have a college degree that means what?” How technology has changed how people date and continue to participate in activities you enjoy to meet people Dalila shares a powerful tip of being a woman vs a girl
