This session explores the evolving psychosocial experience of living long-term with a metastatic breast cancer diagnosis. We’ll discuss day-to-day coping, changes in perspective, shifting priorities, and the impact on relationships with family, friends, and community. Watch our facilitated discussion with a panel sharing their lived experience including how they navigate uncertainty, find meaning, and manage the day-to-day practical demands of living with mets long-term. About the speakers Pamela J. Ginsberg, PhD, is a psychologist who recently retired from her clinical practice. She spent her career focusing on women’s health and psycho-oncology. Tia W. Cooke is a breast cancer advocate, entrepreneur, and creative professional whose work centers on healing, storytelling, and community. Through her advocacy and creative platforms, she supports people navigating cancer with a focus on emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being. Kelly Shanahan, MD, is a physician and woman living with metastatic breast cancer. Before her diagnosis, she maintained a busy and successful OB-GYN practice while raising her young daughter and traveling frequently with her family. She was diagnosed with stage IIB breast cancer in 2008 and with metastatic disease in 2013 at age 53. Roxana Guerra is a breast cancer advocate and single mother who has been living with metastatic breast cancer for nearly 10 years. She was initially diagnosed with stage IIIC breast cancer in 2015 at age 41 and was later restaged to stage IV in November 2016. She is currently living with no evidence of disease.
