Hosted in partnership with Project Life Information can be overwhelming—but when you know how to use it, it becomes the power to make choices with confidence. In this session, you will learn directly from people living with MBC whose professional backgrounds shape how they engage with their medical care.  The session is interactive, featuring the basis and application of cancer biomarkers, pathology reports and scan results.  Each participant will receive a practical handout to collect/record information and thoughtfully frame questions for healthcare providers—your care, on your terms, in your own way. About the speakers Abigail M. Johnston, JD, was living her life, running her business, and tandem breastfeeding her sons when she found a lump in her left breast. After a whirlwind of appointments, tests, and surgeries, as well as a misdiagnosis, Abigail was diagnosed with de novo stage IV metastatic breast cancer (MBC) at the age of 38. Amy Beumer was diagnosed with stage I breast cancer in 2017 at the age of 38 and with metastatic breast cancer in 2020. She is honored to work with Project Life as science and education coordinator and participate as an active member of the Patient-Centered Dosing Initiative and the Metastatic Breast Cancer Alliance. Amy Russell-Parliman, MHA, serves as a director of diagnostic imaging for a health system in upstate New York. After being diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in 2014, Amy faced a metastatic lobular invasive carcinoma diagnosis in 2019.  Since then, her advocacy efforts have included previously serving as the social media coordinator, now she serves as the events coordinator for Project Life, and completing Living Beyond Breast Cancer’s Hear My Voice program in 2022.
